In the shadow of Tedesco Country Club’s new club house, the Mass. Amateur Golf Tournament played to its conclusion earlier this month. The oldest and most venerated event conducted by the Massachusetts Golf Association, the tournament annually crowns the best amateur player in the state. Mike Calef was crowned victorious and had his name added to the coveted trophy for the best in the state.
The club house at Tedesco Country Club was recently demolished and rebuilt by Groom Construction Company. From a scheduling and design build perspective, there were several difficult variables to manage.
With only the winter months to complete the project, Groom had a very limited amount of time for the demolition and construction of the expansive new clubhouse. Simultaneously, every effort was made to maintain the look and feel of the old club house while also including the latest in energy management, mechanical systems, and life safety systems.
The project became unexpectedly more complicated as it progressed when design changes became glaringly necessary. As a result, the construction quickly turned into a partial design build on the fly.
In spite of the many pressures on Groom Construction, the project was completed in time for the magnificent first tee on the new terrace to be utilized at the start of the season. The membership could not be more pleased with the outcome and equally important the project was completed on time and on budget.
